The Philippine Independent Public Sector Employees' Association (PIPSEA), express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families and friends, and also to the organizations where these helpless and hungry farmers belong, who were killed yesterday morning during a violent dispersal in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato. These farmers came from all over North Cotabato Province.
We are also calling the government for the immediate creation of an independent and unbiased fact finding body that will be tasked to find out what happened before, during and after the bloody incident that left scores dead, injured and missing.
We wanted to make sure that the government do its job, finding out why this incident happened and who is responsible. The government should also make sure that similar incidents will not happen again and its causes be addressed immediately.
We also wanted to make sure that justice is served, so that lives that were lost in expressing redress of grievances, will not be in vain. The incident could have been averted. It is senseless. It is unnecessary.
